THE VISION FOR YOUTH MINISTRY AT PRINCE OF PEACE
is to foster a community where all youth experience God’s unconditional love for them, as they learn how to become disciples of Jesus’ grace and peace. To this end, we desire for our youth to connect in meaningful ways with Prince of Peace’s overall congregational life, including worship and music, fellowship, service-learning, and local and global ministries. Above all, we believe that our youth bless God’s Church and world through their gifts and passions.
Here’s just a sampling of the ways we put our vision into practice:
High School Sunday School: Join your peers as we talk, learn, ask questions, wonder, pray, and grow in faith together. Because…you are never alone. Led by Jess Lweno, Youth Director, and a team of adult guides.
We participate in the triennial ELCA’s Youth Gathering and summer service-learning mission trips. In 2018, 15 of our youth and 3 adults traveled to Houston for the Gathering.
Other special activities, fellowship, and service events include: Faith and Film nights, the POP Youth Book Club, overnight retreats, serving our neighbors in need, leading our younger children at V.B.S. & T.G.I.G.F. (Thank God It’s Good Friday), and visiting Jacob’s Porch (Ohio State’s Lutheran Campus Ministry) for their Sunday night meal and worship service.
