Light and Life to all he brings,
Ris’n with healing in his wings.
Stanza 3 -- Hark!  The Herald Angels Sing!

Today, December 21st, is the darkest day of the year, and the beginning of winter. But from this point on we will be getting more light. I like it when the light starts to grow again.

In just a couple of days, with five worship services in one day, we will be celebrating the “light of the world” born once again into all the darkness and sin and death of this world. His light is our life.

It’s been a difficult and odd time for the church and for all of society. This pandemic has rearranged priorities and commitments.

And yet Christ is still born.

I don’t know what to expect this Christmas. I know many who are still leery about joining into large groups celebrations. I know many who are planning to join us only on our live-stream at 8 pm. I know many who are still scared and uncertain about the future.

And yet Christ is still born.

I don’t know exactly what the future holds for the church or even our church. I know some things have changed forever, and other things are yet to be sorted out.

And yet Christ is still born.

I know that whatever happens next, and whatever new variants are created by this virus, and whatever the new year brings, I know that Christ is still born. As the hymns goes, “Born that we may no more may die. Born to raise each child of earth, born to give us second birth.”

Merry Christmas,

Pastor John D. Morris
