Summer Camp
Some of the best memories I have as a kid were the times I got to attend summer camp. Especially for the 3rd-5th grade, it feels like the whole camp was built for that age. We had the chance to play games and sing songs at the campfire, we explored the woods and told scary stories that nobody wanted to admit were scary. One of the best parts of going to camp was how the counselors made the Bible come to life through skits and conversations.
Camp is not just for kids, there are all sorts of fun opportunities for young and old alike. There are great affordable options for families to get away together and spend time in the great outdoors. Last year we sent seven kids to Lutheran Memorial Camp at HopeWood Pines near Mount Gilead. I watched our kids come on the first day obviously nervous and not even sure if they wanted to be there. They were worried about the food, the cabins, and whether they would make friends. It didn’t take long, and they were having the time of their lives, some even asked to come back the next week.
I want to invite you to join us in sending an important youth in your life to go to camp. As a church, we are going to Lutheran Memorial Camp at HopeWood Pines the week of June 25. I will be spending time there along with many of our youth. This is a great way for them to grow in their faith and deepen relationships with other youth from the church and surrounding communities.

P.S. Camp is also a GREAT place to work! I spent three amazing summers as a camp counselor and learned more life skills than I can count. Let me know if you have a kid 18 years or older interested in working at one of our Lutheran camps.
