From the Bible to Luther
Last year, we read together as a congregation The Story – a Bible study that lasted the whole year and was shared by all of our small groups.
This year we’d like to do the same with Luther’s Small Catechism. Beginning in September with Rally Sunday, we are going to encourage you once again this year to do a “deep dive” into Christian Leaning.
The Small Catechism was Luther’s way of teaching the basics of the faith to the whole family, and if you grew up Lutheran, I’m sure you have had a chance to work through the Catechism and maybe even have to memorize parts of it!
And yes, there will be a book!! We hope to have books to pick up beginning around September 1 for our mid-September start. Join us for weekly studies at the church or create your own small group, come to Men’s Ministry, or just do it together with your family (that was Luther’s model).
There is no better time than right now to know clearly and concisely the basics of our Christian faith. Too often others have twisted our faith into something that it isn’t. Luther’s catechism helps to set things straight by talking about Holy Baptism, Holy Communion, the Lord’s Prayer, the Apostles Creed, and the Ten Commandments. Luther believed that these five fundamentals can guide our entire life of faith, and so do I.
Watch for the Small Catechism book coming soon to a pew near you!!
Deepening our faith together!
