January 27, 2026

One of my daily disciplines is to read the daily devotion in The Word in Season (copies are available to pick up at the Welcome Center). On Monday, January 26 we read at Psalm 67, which begins:

May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face to shine upon us
that your way may be known upon the earth,
your saving power among all nations.
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you.

The prayer includes calling us to have courage, and to share our faith story with others. I invite you to share your faith story, reach out, make connections, and let the spirit grow!

One of my favorite faith stories is about Little Shepherds Learning Center, est. 2001, now celebrating 25 years of early education.

It’s winter 2000 and my family and I had just relocated back to Dublin Ohio with our three young daughters. Craig and I were married in 1985 at St John’s Lutheran Church in Dayton Ohio, and with each move for his career we found a Lutheran church home. We moved nearby to the Brandon neighborhood, so naturally the first Sunday we headed to worship at Prince of Peace. With young young daughters, I remember talking with the leaders about Confirmation and Sunday school and offering to teach Sunday school. This community of faith began enriching my spirit through teaching.

That year the Preschool Advisory board was seeking to hire a qualified director to open a licensed part-time childcare center, I was hired in May 2001, and we opened in September 2001 with eight students. 25 years later, here we are, and it’s time to pass the spirit of the licensed preschool community to our new directors, Jen Armstrong and Alice Lawler. In March 2026, my role will change to mentor and consultant for the preschool ministry. Thanks be to God, I will continue my position as Director of Children’s Ministry, I will continue to plan Sunday school, VBS, Bible Workshop, TGIGF and First Communion Workshop.

Thank you all for your continued support of these amazing ministries at Prince of Peace for all these years! I feel blessed to be a part of it. It’s pretty special to wake each day, feeling hopeful and energized to keep serving our God, sharing the good news of love and peace through our ministry.

God’s peace,

Sue Miller
Director of Children’s Ministry
