This is risky. My Myers–Briggs personality type is INTP (Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Perceiving). The Introverted part always surprises people, especially given my vocation. It surprised me enough that I’ve taken the inventory many times. It’s a unique mix of traits, about 3% of the population. So, yes, I am certifiably odd.
I risk sharing this because the Intuitive and Perceiving parts of me have been on edge this past week. And, I sense you are as well. War does that. It is doing that now to this father of one serving in our military. I sense/think/perceive it is doing that to all who follow a Lord who commanded us to love our neighbors as ourselves and whom we bravely name the Prince of Peace.
I so appreciated the words of our new ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry’s pastoral message on the Iran war. His final words express well my Lenten wilderness journey and what I sense so many of us are feeling and thinking. I especially like the alliteration of “We mourn … we yearn … we strive … we trust.”
