October 5, 2021

I was on vacation recently, and while I was gone, former members and dear friends happened to stop by and worship at our church. Of course, it had to be on the first Sunday that I have been out of town since Covid!

I missed not seeing them and catching up. Luckily, they gave me their emails so I was able to catch up over the internet – not quite like in person, but at least a chance to touch base.

Old friends are always such a joy to see, and with good friends, it always seems like you just pick up right where you left off.

I have other friends here at Prince of Peace that I haven’t seen for a while. I’m hoping that it is just the pandemic that is keeping them away, and if that is the case, I completely understand.

But it’s also possible that sometimes we just get out of our habits and patterns in life. The pandemic has shut so many things down – even our church –  and it’s possible that we’ve just gotten out of our normal rhythms and customs that sustain us.

If that’s where you find yourself, I want to invite you back. If you feel safe to be out among us, come home! Too often, once people have gotten out of regular church attendance they feel guilty about showing up again. They think they will be judged or asked where they have been.

But that is simply not the case! If you return to our church, I am going to greet you with a smile and say how good it is to see you and how much I have missed you.

There is no shame or disgrace if you’ve gotten out of the habit of church. The only problem is if you don’t come back. I hope to see you soon!!!

In Christ,
