Reasons for this Season of Ephesians
I am so excited that we are beginning this Bible study/preaching series on Ephesians.
I am excited because so many of you have been to Ephesus recently, and I hope that you will use this opportunity to understand even more about the context and history of that great and ancient city.
I am excited because we get to dwell in this book for seven straight weeks. These opportunities in the lectionary don’t come up every day, but in this particular year, it was a perfect match.
I am excited because this book contains one of my favorite, gospel-centered passages in the entire Bible:
For by grace you have been saved through faith,
and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God
– not the result of works, so that no one may boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
I am excited to be diving with both feet into this letter that has both incredible gospel jewels (see above) and some rather controversial texts (see Chapter 5).
But most of all, I am excited to be doing this together.
If you haven’t picked up your “Ephesians Brochure,” please grab one just outside the sanctuary doors. Or go to our website where you can print it off for your use at home.
See you in Ephesus this weekend!

P.S. A special thank you to Pastor Jim for coming up with this idea. I’m always happy to steal his great ideas!!
