Without counsel, plans go wrong,
but with many advisers they succeed.
To make an apt answer is a joy to anyone,
and a word in season, how good it is!
- Prov 15:22-23
Survey
The surveys are everywhere. They surround you every day, they can be found in your email box, they lurk at the bottom of your receipts, and they shrill in your ears over the phone, especially (always) at dinner time. Surveys are everywhere. Sometimes they seem bothersome and tedious to complete.
Something you should know about me is that I love surveys! Both filling them out and receiving them are fun for me. When I have the chance, I take the 2-question survey at the end of the phone call or fill out the booklet that Nielsen sends to me. I am even part of a group of pastors that is periodically surveyed by the Barna group.
I like to fill out surveys because it is my chance to give feedback about what I think – and give it to people who have the power to do something with it. I want to make sure to share both the good and what I see that could be improved. In past churches, I have been on the receiving end of survey information from thoughtful and faithful congregants. As such, I know how important is to thinking through what is happening in our worshiping community.
As a church, we value the voice of the people highly. Our constitution places all the most important decisions into the votes of the members of the church, usually at the annual meeting or at a specially called congregational meeting. While this might slow the process, we feel strongly about being led by the community’s voice. Theologically, I have always heard the Spirit’s work of leading and guiding more clearly through a group of people.
If you have not yet fill out the Pulse Survey, this is my ask: please take time to do so. We need your voice to be included. Click here to take the brief survey.
God’s Peace,
Pastor Tim
PS: If you want to have a one-on-one conversation about anything on the survey or something on your mind, I would love to schedule that anytime now or into the future.
