The Rhythm of Our Days This weekend a new church year begins with the first week of Advent. This blue season of hope and lighting candles invites us to watch and wait as salvation is born among us once again. But it’s not just the church year that brings a rhythm to our days, it is also weekly worship, regular offerings and gifts, meeting friends for fellowship, our personal devotion, and I also believe the office of daily prayer. For many years at Prince of Peace, we kept Morning and Evening Prayer on Tuesdays as part of our particular habit of praying. During covid, we got away from these daily offices. It’s time we got back to them. Beginning with this new church year and the season of Advent, we will be celebrating Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer every Tuesday of the year. Morning Prayer will be held at 9:45 am in order not to conflict with Preschool drop off at 9:30 am. Evening Prayer will be held at 7:00 pm to begin many of the Tuesday evening meetings that we have here at the church. Each service is about 20 minutes in length and will be led by various members of our church staff and community. I hope you will consider these daily offices as part of the rhythm of your prayer life. For me, they have long been a source of comfort and hope and strength and renewal, and I couldn’t be happier to have them back in my life. See you at either or both . . . 9:45 am Tuesday Morning Prayer 7:00 pm Tuesday Evening Prayer Awaiting the Advent of our Lord, Pastor John D. Morris |
