Time Change
Sometimes I wish I could truly turn back the clock. And I don’t mean like we’re doing this weekend by fooling ourselves into changing our days with a mere adjusting of our time pieces.
I wish I could turn back time and take back some words that I’ve said or change some things that I’ve done. I wish I could alter some things in my life or be more prepared about what is about to occur.
I wish I could fix things before they happen.
And yet . . . although I would like it to be different, that is not how things work. Time moves forward not backward, and we are left with the decisions and choices that we have made, as well as the consequences.
And so I am drawn to God once again to restore me and make me whole.
In our daily lectionary for these first three days of November, the assigned Psalm is Psalm 51.
Create in me a clean heart, O God,;
and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from your presence,
and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and sustain me with your bountiful Spirit.
(Psalm 51: 10-12)
I can’t turn back time. But I can move forward with a God who forgives me, loves me, and offers me a new way to live.
In Christ,
Pastor John D. Morris
